Prerequisite Completion Form
The Virginia Department of Education requires all teachers to have certain general education courses in order to be licensed to teach in Virginia. You can find details about licensure requirements at the VDOE website: http://www.doe.virginia.gov/teaching/licensure/multiple_licensure_routes.pdf. These classes do not need to be taken at the graduate level. If you have taken any of these classes as an undergraduate, that counts.
If you believe you have taken any of the following classes (or equivalents of the following classes), you may submit this form for evaluation. Once the form has been received, the College of Graduate and Professional Studies, in conjunction with the Office of Teacher Prep here at Longwood, will evaluate the classes and either confirm or deny that these courses meet the VDOE requirements. Both the student and the advisor will be notified once classes have been approved or denied.
Note: You are required to submit an official transcript (either electronic or paper) to the College of Graduate and Professional Studies in order for these courses to be accepted. Electronic transcripts may be sent to graduate@longwood.edu and paper transcripts can be mailed to The College of Graduate and Professional Studies 201 High Street Farmville, VA 23901.
