Preparing For Your Courses

Technical Requirements and Resources

Access and Course Registration
  • You’ve been assigned a Longwood ID, e-mail address, username, and temporary password for access to the myLongwood system, your portal for registration, billing, and many other features.
  • Information Technology Services (the Help Desk) will email your access information to the email address you provided on your application. Please monitor your spam/junk mail folder in case the message goes there.
  • If you do not receive the access information within 2-3 business days of acceptance, please call the Help Desk at 434.395.4357 or toll-free at 877.267.7883 for assistance. Their hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am – 5:00 pm ET.

Once you’ve received your access and we’ve confirmed that it’s time to register, you will register yourself for classes using the myLongwood system.

Please view the online Registration Tutorial below, which outlines how to add and drop courses.

Please remember that it’s ideal to enter the CRNs (Course Registration Numbers) directly.  If you’re searching by subject, however, select SLP Online as the subject.

Drop and Withdrawal

Add/Drop

If your plans change quickly after registering, please drop promptly to allow another student to take your place.  These courses are in high demand and fill quickly. The published drop deadline is the last day you can drop your courses without tuition charges.

To drop by the add/drop deadline:

  • Access your account through myLongwood and select the ‘Student’ tab. Click on ‘Planning and Registration’ under the Registration Tools.
  • In the lower right-hand corner of your screen, you’ll see a ‘Summary’ of your courses. In order to drop, click the ‘Action’ drop-down menu beside the course and select ‘**Web Dropped**’.
  • Confirm that the drop has been processed by accessing ‘Student Detail Schedule’ under the Registration Tools on the Student Tab.
  • A drop processed by the add/drop deadline removes financial responsibility.

If you need to drop your courses but have a hold on your account, this is likely due to a tuition balance.  Please contact the Registrar’s Office at 434.395.2580 or registrar@longwood.edu for assistance.  You will need to complete a Schedule Change Form and submit it by fax or email to their office.

Withdrawal

The withdrawal period begins after the drop deadline. To withdraw from a course for no academic penalty:

  • Access your account through myLongwood and select the ‘Student’ tab. Click on ‘Planning and Registration’ under the Registration Tools.
  • In the lower right-hand corner of your screen, you’ll see a ‘Summary’ of your courses.  In order to withdraw from a particular course, click the ‘Action’ drop-down menu beside the course and select ‘**Web Withdraw**’.
  • Confirm that the withdrawal has been processed by accessing ‘Student Detail Schedule’ under the Registration Tools on the Student Tab.

If you need to withdraw from a course but have a hold on your account, this is likely due to a tuition balance.  Please contact the Registrar’s Office at 434.395.2580 or registrar@longwood.edu for assistance.  You will need to complete a Course Withdrawal Form and submit it by fax or email to their office.

In order to withdraw from ALL courses
, please complete a University Withdrawal Form and submit it to the Registrar’s Office by email to registrar@longwood.edu.

Withdrawal after the deadline may only be considered for medical or other non-academic emergencies.  You may submit a written withdrawal request (and supporting documentation from a physician or other applicable support) by email to slponline@longwood.edu.  Confirm receipt by calling 434.395.4927.  This must be done by noon ET on the last day of class.

Withdrawal does not remove tuition and fee charges.  You may submit a Tuition Appeal Form after withdrawal if you feel your circumstances merit.

Payment

These courses are offered at the professional studies rate of $295 per credit (in-state), or $365 per credit (out of state). These rates include a $10 per-credit technology and infrastructure fee, effective fall 2025.

Financial Aid is available for these courses.  The Financial Aid Office is available to assist you and can be reached at 434.395.2077 or finaid@longwood.edu.

After registration, you may pay your tuition in myLongwood.  Select the ‘Student’ tab and click on ‘My Student Account.’  You’ll see the option to view your account information, which will lead to the TouchNet Payment Gateway where you can view your bill, make payments, set up authorized users, enroll in the Monthly Payment Plan, etc.

Please keep these payment due dates in mind:

  • FALL e-bills are generated in early July, due in August
  • SPRING e-bills are generated in mid-November, due in January
  • SUMMER e-bills are generated in mid-May, due in July

If payment is not made by the due date, a hold will be placed on your account which will prohibit adding or dropping. If you have a hold on your account and are still within the add/drop period, please email slponline@longwood.edu to make schedule changes.
