Educational Leadership Endorsement

If you already hold a master’s degree, Longwood University’s Educational Leadership Endorsement courses will prepare you to join the next generation of leaders at your school or district.  Successful completion of the courses and the School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLA) will allow you to apply for the Administration & Supervision PreK-12 endorsement, required for positions such as Principal, Assistant Principal, Curriculum Director, Department Chair, and more.

About our model

We know you’re busy! Between teaching or counseling, administrative tasks, preparing lessons, and living your life, there’s little time left for professional development. This is why we offer the endorsement in a hybrid format which meets face-to-face once per month (always on a Saturday from 9am – 4pm). The remainder of the coursework is online, and you’ll work with your intern mentor to complete internship requirements within your own school division. (Employment in a K-12 school division is required for this model.)  We bring Longwood to you, building regional cohorts across Virginia. Learn from school leaders who have worked and are working in the field today.

Our format:

    • 21 credits
    • Three or six semesters, depending on chosen track
    • $6,270 total tuition (in-state), excluding textbooks, effective fall 2025
      • 2025-2026 in-state tuition = $285/credit + $10/credit technology and infrastructure fee
      • 2025-2026 out-of-state tuition = $355/credit + $10/credit technology and infrastructure fee

Upon completion of the courses, you will be able to:

    • Participate in establishing goals and policies
    • Direct the development of programs and coordinate implementation
    • Manage resources effectively
    • Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of educational functions

Virginia Endorsement

Successful completion of the courses and a passing score on the SLLA meet eligibility requirements for the Administration and Supervision PreK-12 endorsement.
